TeenZone Demonstration Project

UpStart and its partners have supported the TeenZone development - a three-year demonstration project providing innovative, affordable and accessible after-school programming for youth ages 11 to 16 in northeast Calgary.

At TeenZone, the youth participants take responsibility for shaping the programming. This has resulted in diverse programs, including:

• Chill-out time
• Hip-hop dance
• Bollywood choreography
• Team sports
• Acting lessons

This program helps kids learn about themselves and gain the self-confidence to make the right choices.
As a pilot project, TeenZone sets a new standard for how communities city-wide.
