Workplace Child Care

Helping organizations working to establish on-site child care.

Why this issue?

On-site corporate child care can help address important issues like recruitment, retention and productivity – issues that are particularly important to employers facing staffing shortages.

What’s being done?

The Corporate Child Care Task Force works to help individuals and organizations that are striving to develop and sustain work-place child care.  The group’s mandate is to help identify best practices, share information and resources, develop strategies to address common challenges, and create helpful resource tool documents such as Employers Guide and Evaluation Framework. The development of a “community of practice” is designed to improve the likelihood of success among participating organizations.A summary of tasks includes:

  • Developing a “best practices” guide for companies; and,
  • Providing support for economic evaluation and estimating the Returns on Investment.

What change will our work bring?

Increased demand from employers for information, advice and support on how to establish a child care centre in their organization. The final goal of the task force’s work is to increase the number of workplace child care centres to meet the needs of employees.
